Hari Om
This is just an interim update before our November/December
newsletter.
Welcome to Jordan, a son born last month to Taramayi!
The Shankha Prakshalana weekend on 23/24 September was attended
by
14 people. It is an advanced practice, with profound effects,
and all who
undertook it did it courageously, and with great success.
Swami Alokananda has been busy, conducting the FinY Annual
Retreat at the
end of August and then this cleansing weekend. She will also be
conducting
the abbreviated form of the practice (Laghoo Shankha
Prakshalana) for the
FinY teacher trainees on Saturday October 14th.
FinY (Friends in Yoga) is a Western Australian association of
teachers and students of
Yoga, founded in 1991, of which Swami Alokananda and I are both
members.
The last term of classes for the year begins on Monday October
16th.
The schedule remains the same as for last term, with the
exception of
the Friday morning Pranayama and Meditation, which will start
half an hour
earlier (6.00 a.m.) because of earlier sunrise.
The classes are filling quite swiftly, and as numbers are
limited, it would
be a good idea to secure your place by phone or email now.
We are looking forward immensely to the Joy of Yoga Retreat in
December,
and are pleased to have secured the Serpentine Retreat for this
event.
York has been good over the past year, but the surrounds and
accommodation
at Serpentine are much more
congenial.
Registrations for this Retreat
close on Friday November 3rd

AlokaLoka TantraYoga Newsletter
August to
December 2006
Hari Aum
This newsletter takes us up to December.
In the latter part, you'll find class timetable and details of the
two last retreats for 2006. A registration form in .doc is available
via email upon request.
It's been just over a month since the move from Bayswater, and
AlokaLoka TantraYoga has settled into the new location at
13 Kirkland Place Melville.
The house has two big gardens which were unloved for a year before we
arrived.
Now, with the help of friends and students, they are responding
beautifully.
The new sadhana room is slightly smaller than the old one, though
more congenial, so classes are limited accordingly.
The celebration on the night of Guru Poornima was a good test for
the house, with people overflowing into the halls. Swami Alokananda
spent most of the evening cloistered with a seemingly endless stream
of students, initiating and advising, while Kirtan, chanting and
fire ceremony continued with Swami Ajnananda in the sadhana room.
On Saturday August 5th., the space testing process continued,
especially in the kitchen, with the Anna (Food) Yoga Day... another
full house! The day began with pre-dawn meditation and pranayama,
then blossomed into a joyful sequence of TantraYoga practices, Karma
Yoga, transcendental aromas and flavours.
Kriya (Gisela Pineiro) has started to drag Swami Alokananda (with
only a modicum of kicking and screaming) into the 21st century with
the beginnings
of a website:
www.alokalokatantrayoga.com
We're presently working out dates for Kirtan and Satsang and will
advise you on the website and by separate email when they are
confirmed. We also look forward to holding Mauna (Silence) Days and
making the library available.
Recently, one of Swami's students was asked, "What's the difference
between your yoga teacher and other yoga teachers?"
The student thought for a minute, then replied, "Swamiji is not a
yoga teacher... she's a yogini who teaches!"
Looking forward to seeing you throughout the last part of the year
